1. Reach Out
The first step is simply to fill out the contact form for the service you’re interested in.
You can share where you are in your writing, what you’re working on, and what kind of support you think you might need. You don’t have to be an expert, and you don’t need to have everything figured out yet.
It’s completely okay to feel uncertain here — everyone starts somewhere.
2. We Check Fit
I personally review every inquiry.
If I feel I’m a good fit for your project, I’ll let you know and explain what the next steps would look like. If I don’t think I’m the best person to support what you need, I’ll be honest with you — and, when possible, point you toward a better option.
This step helps ensure the work feels supportive, respectful, and genuinely useful for both of us.
3. Booking & Scheduling
If we decide to move forward, you’ll receive:
– a short agreement outlining the scope of work and deliverables
– an invoice to secure your spot in my schedule
For manuscript development projects, a non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking. Story Diagnostics are paid in full upfront, and Story Coaching is billed monthly.
Once everything is confirmed, your project is officially scheduled.
4. The Work
I complete the agreed service within the stated timeframe.
For manuscript development and diagnostics, this involves careful reading, analysis, and written feedback. For Story Coaching, it means structured written check-ins based on the rhythm we’ve chosen together.
I work thoughtfully and intentionally — giving your story the time it needs, without rushing or dragging the process out unnecessarily.
5. Delivery
You’ll receive all agreed deliverables at once, in a clear and organised format.
For developmental services, this typically includes written feedback and notes. Some services also include a limited follow-up window for clarification questions, which will always be clearly outlined when you book.
6. Support & Next Steps
Depending on the service, you may have the option to ask follow-up questions or talk through parts of the feedback.
I’ll also suggest what kind of support — if any — might be helpful next, whether that’s revision time, Story Coaching, or simply continuing on your own.
There’s no pressure to book anything further. The goal is always to leave you with clarity, confidence, and a stronger sense of direction.
A few important notes
I work primarily through written communication, which allows for deeper reflection and clearer feedback.
I take on a limited number of clients at a time so the work can stay thoughtful, present, and sustainable.
If you’re unsure which service fits your needs, you’re always welcome to say so when you reach out.
About sample edits & getting started
I don’t offer free sample edits. Because my work focuses on big-picture story development rather than line-level editing, short excerpts don’t accurately reflect the kind of support I provide — and can sometimes be misleading for both of us.
Instead, I offer a Story Diagnostic as a lower-commitment way to experience my approach. This allows me to engage with your story thoughtfully and honestly, and gives you feedback you can actually use.
I review every inquiry carefully. If I don’t believe I can genuinely help your manuscript, I’ll tell you — and I won’t recommend a service that isn’t right for your project.
